This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Workflow and agent execution. Create contracts that enable agents to interact with real pipelines using typed inputs, structured outputs, streaming status, retries, logs, and auditability.
• Python and Django platform services. Design platform concepts clearly, develop robust APIs, refine service boundaries, and ensure customer workflows are dependable at the backend level.
• Kubernetes-backed execution. Focus on deployment patterns, scaling, isolation, runtime behavior, observability, and operational reliability for AI workflows.
• Fullstack platform surfaces. Develop both frontend and backend experiences for customers to configure, execute, inspect, debug, and reuse AI workflows.
• Permission-aware data access. Create secure data access patterns, retrieval systems, indexing, hybrid search, and APIs that adhere to enterprise boundaries.
• Reliability and observability. Make distributed AI workflows transparent: what executed, what altered, what failed, why it failed, and what actions users or the system can take next.
• Platform abstractions. Transform one-off customer implementations into reusable functionalities without losing essential domain-specific details.
• Developer and operator experience. Enhance tools, documentation, test harnesses, internal workflows, and diagnostics that enable a small team to operate swiftly without compromising system control.
• This is not a purely infrastructure position. The ideal candidate can navigate through the stack, identify genuine constraints, and enhance the customer experience beyond its initial state.
• Strong backend and platform experience. You are proficient in Python/Django, APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, queues, jobs, and ensuring production reliability.
• Fullstack production range. You are sufficiently skilled in TypeScript, React, and frontend product interfaces to develop, debug, or refine the UI that presents your backend work.
• High agency and high standards. You do not wait for a flawless specification. You clarify issues, identify constraints, make progress, and elevate quality continuously.
• Platform instincts. You conceptualize contracts, interfaces, failure modes, permissions, observability, and lifecycle. You understand the distinction between a feature that functions once and a fundamental element that others can reliably build upon.
• Good taste in abstraction. You avoid over-engineering the initial version, but you can recognize when repeated customer tasks should evolve into a platform capability.
• Taste in customer experience. You can discern when a complex workflow is technically sound yet still confusing, fragile, or hard to trust. You prioritize making advanced software intuitive, rapid, and empowering.
• AI-first engineering habits. You utilize tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar systems to expedite processes and conceptualize at a higher level. You still comprehend the code you produce, meticulously review generated work, and know when to proceed with caution.
• Judgment in spite of AI. You can deliver high-quality software even when AI tools are enthusiastic about generating excessive code, plausible abstractions, brittle tests, or superficial solutions.
• Customer empathy. You can communicate with scientists, data teams, operators, and enterprise stakeholders, then translate complex real-world needs into sustainable engineering decisions.
• Clear communication. You can articulate the nature of a problem, elucidate trade-offs, and assist the team in making informed decisions without necessitating excessive meetings.

• Life Insurance, 401k, Flexible Spending Accounts, & More
