Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deliver: Take ownership of full-stack features from the API design stage to a polished and accessible user interface.

• Lead front-end architecture: Drive decisions regarding component patterns, state management, performance, and the evolution of design systems.

• Advocate for our testing culture: We have a robust testing culture across the company, and we seek someone to instill that same level of rigor in our front-end and account management code. You will establish standards by selecting tools, defining patterns, and fostering a habit of solid coverage within the team.

• Write clean backend code: Maintain and develop scalable Python APIs while collaborating on data modeling and GCP infrastructure.

• Utilize AI tools: Regularly use Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar tools for prompting, reviewing, and refining code.

• Serve as an L3 escalation: Participate in a genuinely low-volume, third-level on-call rotation.

• Mentor and uplift: Provide informal guidance to teammates through code reviews, collaborative programming, and thorough documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive full-stack professional experience, showcasing the ability to work independently across the entire stack and lead technical decisions.

• Proficient in at least one major cloud platform (most of our operations are in GCP); capable of designing, deploying, and managing production workloads in the cloud.

• Strong front-end skills with React, familiarity with the modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem, and a keen eye for UI design (spacing, hierarchy, responsiveness, accessibility).

• Backend expertise in Python, or a proven ability to quickly become productive in Python (we welcome strong developers from Node, Go, or Java who are eager to transition to Python).

• Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and REST/GraphQL API design.

• Proficient use of AI coding assistants in real-world production settings—you can articulate how you leverage them, their advantages, and their limitations.

• Comfortable navigating the entire stack and driving features to completion without requiring explicit handoffs at every step.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for maintaining alignment among our US and Japan-based teammates asynchronously.
