Senior Full-Stack Engineer – Backend Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop dependable, scalable backend services and data pipelines.

• Create and sustain backend applications, primarily utilizing Python and SQL.

• Promote engineering best practices concerning testing, code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Enhance system observability and engage in troubleshooting and resolving production issues.

• Construct and manage data ingestion services through APIs and batch file processing.

• Upgrade legacy workflows by substituting manual or spreadsheet-driven processes with automated and robust systems.

• Build internal dashboards and services that offer real-time operational and business insights.

• Develop automation to minimize manual investigation and facilitate self-service for internal stakeholders.

• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks throughout backend pipelines.

• Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations teams to ensure technical solutions meet business requirements.

• Influence technical direction, architectural decisions, and roadmap planning.

• Participate in the front-end layer of the application (approximately 30% of the role) using HTML, HTMX, Jinja templates, and Python-based rendering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English, both written and oral, with a minimum level of B2-C1 (90%+).

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software development.

• Proven expertise in backend development.

• Strong background in backend engineering.

• Capability to deliver practical and iterative technical solutions.

• Ability to thrive in dynamic environments while upholding high engineering standards.

• Competence to independently manage technical tasks and lead efforts across teams.

• Willingness to take initiative, learn from setbacks, and continually enhance systems and processes.

• Strong command of Python.

• Strong command of SQL.

• Experience in designing and developing production-ready backend services.

• Extensive experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, with a preference for PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.

• Experience in data ingestion, processing, and data-driven applications.

• Background in deploying and managing applications on AWS.

• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS CDK, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of CI/CD practices and production deployments.

• Experience in designing scalable, reliable, high-performance distributed systems.

• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.

• Strong experience in API design, including REST APIs and/or GraphQL.

• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and secure service design.

• Experience with unit and integration testing.

• Comfort with HTML, HTMX, Jinja templates, and Python-based rendering.

• Deep expertise in traditional JavaScript frontend frameworks is not mandatory.
