Senior Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Jordan.

📋 Description

• Oversee the end-to-end development of new features, ranging from refining requirements with the Product team to shipping and monitoring in a production environment.

• Spearhead the technical design for significant system modifications and establish development standards for the Backend team.

• Provide mentorship to others while being open to learning from them as well.

• Show enthusiasm for new technologies and actively seek practical opportunities to improve our existing technology stack.

• Work autonomously: identify issues, propose solutions, and execute without the need for management oversight.

⛳️ Requirements

• Backend expertise: Proficient in leading complex work in modern PHP (7/8+) - Object-Oriented Design, testability, and the trade-offs of common patterns come naturally.

• Frontend skills: Capable of delivering production React/TypeScript features end-to-end independently.

• Experience with scalability: Familiar with high-traffic web applications and aware of potential breakdowns at scale - understanding of database hotspots, caching, queueing, idempotency, and observability.

• Relational databases: Hands-on experience with MySQL or similar - able to interpret an EXPLAIN plan and optimize a slow query with confidence.

• API integration: Experience in designing and consuming HTTP APIs, including navigating the complexities of third-party reliability.

• AI-assisted development: Regular user of modern AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) in your daily workflow, with a healthy skepticism towards their outputs. Capable of identifying when the model is misleading and do not merge code you do not fully comprehend.

• Collaboration with Product: Able to collaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements, provide constructive feedback, and offer realistic estimates.

• Communication skills: Proficient in articulating technical decisions to non-engineers and writing clearly to facilitate effective asynchronous collaboration.

• Judgment: Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the instinct to question "do we actually need this?" before introducing complexity.

• Ideal candidate traits: Experience in DevOps with a major cloud provider (AWS / GCP / Azure).

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of Python, Node, or other backend languages - we value a polyglot mindset over specific technology stacks.

• Experience with Elasticsearch and GraphQL.

• Background in evaluating or developing features that integrate LLMs into products (prompt design, RAG, evaluations, cost/latency trade-offs).
