This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Create high-quality, high-performance eCommerce frontend experiences that AOA is renowned for, emphasizing predictability, agentic efficiency, and collaborative ownership.
• Develop production-ready storefronts utilizing React and contemporary headless commerce frameworks like Shopify Hydrogen.
• Design and modify classic Shopify: Liquid themes, applications, Checkout Extensions, and store settings.
• Act as AOA's Shopify technical lead by establishing the Shopify standard, reviewing and overseeing Shopify projects, and serving as the platform authority for the team.
• Lead the migration process for Shopify and set up CI/CD and deployment pipelines for themes and applications.
• Convert product-level objectives into clear, actionable engineering tasks while taking ownership of the technical direction.
• Transform Figma designs into reusable storefront components and design-system primitives to accelerate the team's delivery.
• Integrate storefronts with commerce and content APIs, managing variants, inventory, pricing, loading, errors, empty states, and partial data effectively.
• Strategically plan and organize your workload across several client projects, providing recommendations instead of presenting open-ended challenges.
• Write well-tested, maintainable TypeScript that adheres to the conventions of each client codebase.
• Conduct self-reviews of your work and identify issues before quality assurance, with a special focus on revenue-impacting flows.
• Perform code reviews and uphold quality standards in the work you assess.
• Utilize AI coding tools and agents judiciously while maintaining control over engineering judgment.
• Proactively communicate within a remote team, sharing updates and identifying risks early on.
• Over 5 years of experience in building production frontend applications, with extensive expertise in React and TypeScript.
• At least 4 years of experience in developing and managing Shopify solutions across both classic and headless builds.
• Previous experience working in an agency setting and as an independent contractor, capable of managing multiple clients or projects simultaneously.
• Significant experience with enterprise-grade accounts, products, or projects.
• Strong background in Liquid theme development (Online Store 2.0), Shopify applications, Checkout Extensions, store configuration, and migrations.
• Experience acting as the senior technical authority on Shopify: setting standards, reviewing and supervising others' Shopify work, and managing CI/CD and version control for themes or applications.
• Proven track record of handling storefront features from inception to production, successfully navigating ambiguous requirements.
• Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals: semantic HTML, modern CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and browser behavior.
• Experience in translating Figma designs into precise, responsive, and accessible user interfaces.
• Familiarity with integrating REST or GraphQL APIs (such as Storefront API) and managing client and server states, including shopping cart functionality.
• Strong commitment to quality: producing typed, tested code and conducting self-reviews before QA processes.
• Ability to estimate tasks, commit to delivery cycles, and consistently meet deadlines.
• Excellent command of professional English, both spoken and written, with reliable availability during standard US Central Time business hours.
• Proficient and practical use of AI coding tools within your engineering workflow.
• Based in Latin America and eligible to work as an independent contractor.
• Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
• Flexible working hours and remote work opportunities.
• Access to professional development resources and training.
• Collaborative and innovative work environment.
