Senior Frontend Engineer, React

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Provide exceptional, high-performing frontend experiences that AOA is recognized for, ensuring predictability, agentic efficiency, and collaborative ownership.

• Develop production-grade frontend solutions for enterprise clients using React and Next.js.

• Create clear technical documentation, schemas, and architectural diagrams for teammates' reference.

• Convert product-level goals into specific, actionable engineering tasks and take ownership of the technical strategy.

• Transform Figma designs into reusable component libraries and design-system elements that enable quicker team delivery.

• Embody frontend craftsmanship from the outset and prioritize performance by default.

• Integrate interfaces with backend systems and third-party APIs, managing loading states, errors, empty states, and partial data effectively.

• Strategically plan and sequence your work across various client projects, providing recommendations instead of presenting open-ended challenges.

• Proactively spot risks and gaps, and generate spike tickets to mitigate them prior to commencing the work.

• Write well-tested, maintainable TypeScript that adheres to the conventions of each client’s codebase.

• Conduct self-reviews of your work to identify and rectify issues before the QA process.

• Perform code reviews and maintain high-quality standards across all reviewed work.

• Utilize AI coding tools and agents thoughtfully, while maintaining control over engineering judgment.

• Manage yourself effectively and take responsibility for your commitments, ensuring you deliver what you intended for the cycle.

• Communicate proactively with a remote team, sharing progress updates and highlighting risks at an early stage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building production-level frontend applications, with extensive, up-to-date expertise in React.

• Significant experience with enterprise-grade accounts, products, or projects.

• Previous experience in an agency setting and as an independent contractor, capable of managing multiple clients or projects simultaneously.

• Excellent command of professional English, both spoken and written.

• Proven track record of owning frontend features from inception to production, navigating ambiguous requirements effectively.

• Strong foundational skills in frontend development: semantic HTML, modern CSS, responsive design, and browser behavior.

• Proficient in transforming Figma designs into precise, responsive, and accessible interfaces.

• Experience in integrating REST or GraphQL APIs and managing both client-side and server-side state.

• Strong commitment to quality: producing typed, tested code and conducting self-reviews prior to QA.

• Ability to estimate workload, commit to delivery cycles, and deliver reliably.

• Strong written communication skills and the ability to work proactively and independently within a fully remote team.

• Availability for reliable overlap with standard US Central Time business hours.

• Proficient, practical use of AI coding tools as part of your engineering process.

• Residing in Latin America and able to work as an independent contractor.
