Senior Front-End Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain new functionalities across the Shopify Headless storefront, emphasizing critical pages (homepage, PDP, PLP, cart, and checkout) utilizing React, HTML, Tailwind, SCSS, and TypeScript.

• Implement and tailor Shopify Functions to enhance backend logic and commerce functionalities.

• Connect the storefront with external services and APIs, including the Shopify Storefront API (GraphQL), Shopify Admin API (GraphQL), Shopify Metafields, and third-party integrations such as Algolia.

• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, converting Figma designs into pixel-perfect, performance-optimized, and resilient React components, while actively participating in design critiques to ensure technical feasibility and component reusability early in the development process.

• Modify existing Shopify themes and applications to fulfill business requirements.

• Contribute to the advancement and governance of our Storybook-based design system, including the architecture of new, high-quality React components, establishing comprehensive usage guidelines, and maintaining the source of truth for design tokens across the application.

• Enhance storefront performance through lazy loading, effective asset management, and code splitting.

• Guarantee cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.

• Maintain the highest standards of web accessibility, ensuring adherence to WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges associated with front-end development and theme coding.

• Adhere to and promote coding best practices and documentation standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in front-end development, with a strong emphasis on Shopify Headless storefronts.

• Experience in a fast-paced start-up, DTC environment, and eCommerce brand.

• Extensive proficiency in React, HTML, Tailwind, SCSS, and TypeScript for developing and customizing Shopify Headless storefronts.

• Proven ability to leverage agentic coding and AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to expedite feature development while maintaining high code quality.

• Direct experience with the Shopify Storefront API (GraphQL) and Shopify Admin API (GraphQL) for data retrieval purposes.

• Familiarity with modern React state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Context API, Zustand).

• Knowledge of modern headless deployment frameworks such as Shopify Hydrogen/Next.js.

• Practical experience with Shopify Functions to create custom discount, payment, or delivery logic.

• Experience in translating Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive web experiences.

• Strong understanding of Git-based workflows and version control best practices.

• Experience implementing and customizing essential eCommerce pages, including the homepage, PDP, PLP, cart, and checkout.

• In-depth knowledge of front-end performance optimization techniques such as lazy loading, asset management, and code splitting.

• Familiarity with Shopify apps and the capability to modify or extend their functionalities.

• Excellent skills in cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.

• Proven expertise in creating and maintaining storefronts that comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, including a strong background in semantic HTML and ARIA.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with UX/UI designers, product managers, and backend developers.

• Experience working with QA teams throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC), including involvement in technical design reviews and assisting with bug resolution.

• Extensive experience collaborating with UI/UX teams to ensure seamless design handoffs and accurate implementation of visual specifications.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities regarding theme code and front-end issues.
