This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead the front-end software engineering initiatives for a team of approximately twelve full-stack engineers.
• Have a significant impact within a skilled and welcoming Brazilian team.
• Tackle intriguing challenges and write elegant code.
• Occasionally travel to San Francisco, CA.
• Maintain a balance between your professional and personal life.
• Assume complete ownership of the appearance, functionality, and performance of our web application’s front-end.
• Research, advocate for, and enforce coding patterns and standards, while enhancing our React-based design system built on Material UI.
• Review the code of teammates and motivate others to enhance code quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with product teams to comprehend goals and vision. Negotiate applicable patterns and outline a strategy to efficiently meet objectives.
• Consult with designers and suggest existing, practical solutions when they encounter challenges.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers to interpret requirements, draft plans, and provide accurate estimates.
• Resolve disagreements through active listening and logical reasoning rather than authority.
• Lead initiatives to modernize existing (aging yet robust) code.
• Continuously learn and stay current. Share insights and help fellow engineers improve, including testing and adopting new AI-driven coding techniques.
• Over 7 years of commercial software engineering experience, ideally with a business productivity application featuring 250+ screens and/or a widely-used consumer website with millions of visitors per year.
• A passion for UX patterns and structure. Successfully established and promoted standards within a team of 5 or more engineers. It was challenging, but the outcomes improved everyone's experience.
• Enjoy engaging with complex issues. You’ve dealt with JavaScript challenges more often than you’d like to admit. You tackle cross-browser display problems with ease and have years of experience working with DOM, JavaScript libraries, and frameworks.
• Highly organized and an effective communicator. You know how to negotiate outcomes, clarify details, and drive tasks to completion.
• Excellent English comprehension (both reading and listening). Competent written English (with some assistance from Grammarly).
• Work remotely. 100% of the team is based in Brazil. Most team members reside within driving distance of Joinville, SC, Brazil, and we regularly meet in person if you choose to participate.
