Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate forward-deployed projects from initial discovery to full production implementation.

• Design tailored systems that incorporate AI, forecasting, optimization, simulation, and decision-support workflows.

• Create application frameworks that integrate Maybern's platform with client-specific logic, data, and operational processes.

• Develop evaluation, control, and validation frameworks for high-stakes outputs.

• Act as a reliable technical advisor to senior customer stakeholders.

• Provide mentorship to engineers within the Forward Deployed Engineering team.

• Recognize when custom work should evolve into reusable product capabilities or shared platform infrastructure.

• Assist in defining standards, technical direction, and operational practices for the function.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, quantitative systems, applied research, or forward-deployed technical roles with significant ownership.

• Proven track record of leading ambiguous, customer-facing technical projects.

• Extensive expertise in Python, SQL, system design, and analytical application architecture.

• Strong background in applied AI or machine learning, with a focus on evaluation, reliability, and real-world deployment.

• Profound quantitative reasoning skills in modeling, inference, optimization, simulation, statistics, or decision systems.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

• A discerning approach to balancing speed, thoroughness, and trust in high-stakes environments.
