Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead discovery sessions with business and functional stakeholders to comprehend workflows, objectives, limitations, and challenges.

• Convert insights into requirements, technical designs, implementation strategies, acceptance criteria, and measurable results.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy AI agents, dashboards, automations, data pipelines, and integrations.

• Engage in the entire solution lifecycle from prototyping to production implementation, adoption, support, and ongoing enhancement.

• Write, review, and maintain clean production code along with automated tests and documentation.

• Integrate business applications, systems of record, relational databases, and internal AI capabilities using secure and maintainable designs.

• Implement security measures such as authentication, authorization, validation, logging, error handling, monitoring, and data provenance.

• Create reusable code, libraries, workflow components, integration patterns, evaluations, and implementation guides.

• Take responsibility for testing, evaluations, security, data validation, observability, human-in-the-loop controls, and production support.

• Utilize AI tools, coding agents, agent builders, and workflow automation during software development and operations.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, AI and Data teams, and functional teams to develop scalable solutions.

• Design evaluations, human-in-the-loop controls, and responsible AI safeguards.

• Configure environments, monitor system health, investigate production issues, and enhance reliability and performance.

• Track adoption rates, usage, hours saved, quality metrics, and other business outcomes.

• Contribute to approved skills, agents, dashboards, templates, and documentation.

• Participate in the weekly FDE forum and contribute to shared architecture, security, evaluation, and responsible AI standards.

• Provide training, technical support, and mentoring.

• Communicate technical options, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, progress, and decisions to stakeholders.

• Dedicate approximately 20% of your time to Alkami’s shared AI platform.

• Respond to production incidents and on-call issues.

• Apply security, privacy, accessibility, change management, and responsible AI standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software development, technical implementation, data systems, automation, or a related field; or 3 years with an advanced degree.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, C#, or a similar programming language.

• Proven experience in delivering and supporting production software, data systems, or workflow automation.

• Ability to translate vague stakeholder requirements into technical solutions and measurable results.

• Experience in building or integrating AI-enabled workflows, agents, or automations.

• Daily use of and a portfolio showcasing agents or automations.

• At least one production AI or agent-based system successfully shipped, adopted by another team, actively utilized, demonstrating measurable value, clear ownership, and ongoing support.

• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, cloud-native deployment, monitoring, version control, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data structures, caching mechanisms, data quality, and performance optimization.

• Familiarity with REST API integration, including webhooks, authentication and authorization protocols, business applications, and systems of record.

• Experience in developing unit tests, UI automation tests, integration tests, or AI workflow evaluations.

• Willingness to participate in production support or an on-call rotation.

• Knowledge of secure development practices, access controls, data privacy, operational reliability, and responsible AI methodologies.

• Must be eligible to work in the US for full-time employment; Alkami does not provide employment sponsorship.

• Preferred: Experience in SaaS within technology or financial industries.

• Preferred: Background in forward-deployed roles, consulting, implementation, customer engineering, business systems, revenue operations, marketing operations, or other stakeholder-facing technical positions.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, event-driven services, infrastructure as code, or similar cloud technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with modern data warehouses, CRM systems, customer success, marketing, sales, or conversation intelligence data and workflows.

• Preferred: Knowledge of observability, OpenTelemetry, performance optimization, or operational reliability.

• Preferred: Experience with MCP or similar AI-to-business-application tools or internal AI platforms.
