Senior Flight Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and take ownership of mission-critical software applications for satellite systems.

• Assist in the commissioning of spacecraft during launch and early operations, ensuring that software systems remain operational during critical phases.

• Oversee spacecraft software solutions throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial design to deployment.

• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and system-level testing of software components, identifying and rectifying any defects or issues.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish product requirements and technical roadmaps.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Person status is necessary for this position due to the need to access export-controlled data.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in flight software.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong skills in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Rust.

• Experience with real-time systems operating on distributed hardware.

• Knowledge of embedded Linux operating systems, system administration, and creating Linux distributions (Yocto).

• Familiarity with satellite systems and protocols, including CCSDS and ECSS.

• Experience in software integration, testing, and validation for real-time and distributed systems.

• Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), secure communication systems, Protobuf, and encryption.
