Senior Financial Navigation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute training initiatives for onboarding, skills refreshers, and updates regarding regulatory or payer modifications.

• Act as a real-time support resource for staff addressing escalated or intricate financial navigation challenges.

• Design and maintain training materials, including workflow documents, payer reference guides, and tip sheets.

• Ensure the precise completion of Good Faith Estimates, self-pay workflows, and insurance education activities.

• Examine trends in coverage denials or payment delays and provide targeted education based on root-cause analysis.

• Collaborate with the CBO and other revenue cycle stakeholders to enhance consistency in financial documentation and patient communication.

• Conduct workflow review meetings and case study discussions to facilitate best practice sharing and peer learning.

• Stay updated on insurance requirements, coding revisions, and federal patient protection regulations.

• Provide support for front-line navigation needs during peak periods or staff shortages.

• Assess the effectiveness of training and suggest modifications based on performance metrics and feedback from the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare related to financial navigation, benefits counseling, or patient access operations.

• Previous experience in delivering staff education or mentoring is highly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of health insurance benefits, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and payer coverage requirements.

• Strong communicator with the ability to coach a diverse range of learners.

• Excellent analytical, time management, and documentation capabilities.

• Familiarity with Epic workflows and payer portals.

• Capable of managing competing priorities and adjusting training based on team and regulatory demands.
