This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Oversee the financial management, monitoring, reporting, and compliance related to UPO grants and contracts.
• Facilitate and engage in the design, testing, implementation, and evaluation of intricate manual and automated financial analyses.
• Manage transactional accounting practices and develop enhancements to existing processes.
• Supervise program expenditures ensuring they meet standards of allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and compliance with grant agreements, donor requirements, UPO Purchase Order Agreement, and relevant regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200.
• Spearhead the creation of the UPO annual budget, grant proposal budgets, re-budgeting, modification requests, and budget narratives.
• Offer budget advice and recommendations throughout the budget development and application processes.
• Evaluate personnel, fringe, occupancy, and indirect cost allocations.
• Assist the Finance Director with intricate financial accounting processes, systems, and practices.
• Aid in the maintenance and implementation of the Cost Allocation Plan and assess allocation methodologies.
• Review trends and suggest enhancements to financial performance and compliance.
• Examine alternative system designs and pinpoint improvements for existing systems and processes.
• Collaborate closely with program executives, the Finance Director, and other key stakeholders.
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as a grant accountant or financial analyst is required.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• In-depth knowledge of financial analysis techniques and procedural methods utilized in data mining and database development.
• Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with individuals from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Experience with U.S. government grants, including Head Start/Early Head Start and other Health and Human Services agency grant awards is preferred.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and/or FBI fingerprinting, along with pre-employment drug screening as applicable.
