Senior Finance Transformation, Systems Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Assist Avaaz Finance in planning and executing the transition of the Avaaz UK functional currency from USD to EUR, which includes:

• - analyzing the operational, accounting, and reporting implications of the transition;

• - aiding in the definition of the cutover strategy, encompassing the treatment of transactions during the transition period and opening balances;

• - coordinating contributions from QuickBooks specialists, accounting advisors, auditors, and tax consultants;

• - pinpointing data, reconciliation, and reporting necessities;

• - ensuring comprehensive documentation of the transition for audit and accounting purposes;

• - assisting the Finance team in understanding the effects on monthly reporting, budget monitoring, revenue reporting, and consolidated reporting.

• Evaluate existing finance systems and workflows, including accounting software, expense management, banking/payment processes, card processes, revenue reporting, and associated trackers.

• Document existing challenges related to cards, payments, expenses, approvals, and invoice workflows.

• Identify areas where current systems are causing manual work, control risks, delays, or suboptimal user experiences.

• Develop recommendations for Finance and Operations leadership.

• Support Avaaz in preparing for a forthcoming ERP transition, even if a separate implementation partner manages the full execution.

• Serve as a central internal project lead across interconnected finance transformation workstreams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in finance transformation, finance systems implementation, accounting operations, or finance process enhancement.

• Experience in multi-entity and multi-currency finance environments.

• Strong comprehension of accounting operations, accounts payable, expenses, payments, reconciliations, closing processes, and financial reporting.

• Demonstrated capability to lead or assist in systems/process changes within a complex organization.

• Experience in converting finance team requirements into system specifications and implementation strategies.

• Robust project management skills, including the management of timelines, risks, dependencies, and external vendors.

• Ability to work autonomously, structure ambiguity, and propel tasks forward.

• Strong judgment: capable of differentiating between urgent and important, strategic and tactical, and sufficient versus overly engineered solutions.

• Excellent communication abilities, including the skill to articulate complex finance system issues clearly to non-specialists.

• Proficient documentation skills.

• Capacity to work effectively in a fully remote, global, and multicultural team.

• High proficiency in English.

• Experience with ERP implementation or ERP readiness initiatives.

• Familiarity with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Intuit Enterprise, or similar finance systems.

• Experience with spend management, accounts payable automation, or card/expense platforms such as Airwallex, Ramp, Brex, Concur, or similar.

• Experience in supporting a functional currency transition or a major accounting system overhaul.

• Experience collaborating with implementation partners, external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and software vendors.

• Background in nonprofit, NGO, advocacy, campaigning, grant-making, or international organizations.

• Knowledge of UK/US entity structures, VAT, multi-currency reporting, or global payment operations.
