This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Manage microscope-related service issues within the typical responsibilities of an end user, which includes coordinating with site lab personnel and the Supplier’s service team to arrange service appointments.
• Monitor data quality and alignment as necessary, ensuring the facility is well-equipped with various microscopy supplies.
• Proactively design and implement enhancements in workflow to boost the speed, quality, and reliability of data collection on the Supplier’s equipment.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the site scientific team to facilitate IT requirements for the operation of Supplier instruments.
• Collaborate closely with users for scheduling and managing microscope time slots.
• Work together with site Scientists to ensure all relevant documentation regarding the scope of work is completed promptly.
• The scientist will adhere to the Supplier’s standard operating procedure for reporting service issues and will initiate service calls as needed.
• Microscope maintenance falls outside the scope of this Project Agreement and will be governed by one or more separate agreements.
• Engage in grid loading and data collection activities.
• If time allows, partake in grid preparation and data processing.
• Receive and properly store Cryo-EM samples.
• Test new features and methods.
• Train users on grid preparation and data collection techniques.
• Co-author publications as authorized in writing by both the site and the Supplier.
• Comply with confidentiality or NDA agreements.
• Possess the ability to work remotely on projects only if deemed necessary by the site due to circumstances beyond normal control (e.g., restrictions on in-person lab work due to COVID).
• Over 3 years of experience in routine equipment maintenance, microscope operation, and the computational aspects of Cryo-EM.
• At least 1 year of experience in leading initiatives to enhance the Cryo-EM customer experience.
• Proven track record of scientific achievements in one or more Cryo-EM techniques.
• Ph.D. degree with a specialization in Cryo-EM structural biology.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary drug discovery settings.
• A strong team player who can also work effectively independently and remotely; experienced in interacting with customers, service engineers, product marketing managers, and R&D teams.
