Senior Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee preconstruction estimating initiatives for large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.

• Create precise and competitive project estimates utilizing both self-perform and subcontractor pricing.

• Assess RFPs, drawings, specifications, schedules, and design criteria to identify project scope and estimate needs.

• Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and confirm estimate assumptions.

• Generate and distribute subcontractor bid packages while driving competitive pricing strategies.

• Examine historical project data and market trends to enhance estimate precision.

• Supervise and mentor junior estimators throughout the pursuit process.

• Analyze, normalize, and evaluate subcontractor proposals, providing recommendation assessments.

• Prepare pricing proposals and accompanying documentation for client submissions.

• Assist with contract negotiations and pricing adjustments during the award process.

• Collaborate with Procurement to finalize subcontractor scopes, budgets, and schedules.

• Establish project phase codes and reporting frameworks for project controls.

• Conduct budget tracking and perform estimate-to-actual variance analysis.

• Lead estimate review meetings and facilitate the transition to Operations and Project Management.

• Assess change orders and cost implications during the construction phase.

• Offer estimating expertise and historical project insights during project execution.

• Aid in resolving design, procurement, and subcontractor-related challenges throughout construction.

• Work in conjunction with business development, procurement, preconstruction, and operations teams from pursuit to execution.

• Report to the Manager, Estimating.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Energy Systems, Energy Economics, Business, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of estimating experience in utility-scale energy, power, electrical, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction projects.

• Proven experience in estimating utility-scale solar and/or battery energy storage (BESS) projects.

• Proficient in developing comprehensive cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals.

• Strong comprehension of EPC project delivery and preconstruction processes.

• Experience with electrical takeoffs and familiarity with major electrical systems.

• Preferred: Over 5 years of estimating experience in utility-scale energy, power, electrical, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction projects.

• Preferred: Experience with projects ranging from 100 MWdc to 1,000 MWdc.

• Preferred: Estimating experience in a self-perform construction context.

• Preferred: Experience in managing or mentoring junior estimators.

• Preferred: Experience in soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor proposals.

• Preferred: Familiarity with B2W, Procore, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project.

• Preferred: Understanding of renewable energy design, electrical engineering, or methodologies in utility-scale construction.
