Senior Engineering Manager, V&V Media

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of senior engineers in the development of Twilio's next-generation media processing architecture.

• Drive architectural decisions for low-latency, high-throughput media systems.

• Collaborate with product and platform teams, as well as other engineering groups, to establish technical roadmaps.

• Foster engineering excellence through the implementation of code quality standards, testing protocols, and operational reliability.

• Mentor engineers and provide expert guidance on intricate media processing challenges.

• Balance the reduction of technical debt with the development of new features while ensuring service reliability.

• Build and enhance systems that manage real-time media processing at scale.

• Take ownership of service performance metrics, reliability targets, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Partner with engineering leaders to align media platform capabilities with the broader Voice strategy.

• Make pivotal technology stack decisions that influence Twilio's media processing capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of engineering management experience leading teams that build distributed systems.

• A robust technical background with experience in architecting and constructing backend services at scale, ensuring they operate reliably under strict SLOs.

• Profound understanding of systems design, microservice architecture, and cloud infrastructure.

• Experience managing intricate technical trade-offs between reliability, scalability, and feature development.

• A proven track record of successfully delivering critical infrastructure projects that involve significant technical complexity.

• Experience enhancing developer velocity through the use of AI tools.

• Strong expertise in performance optimization, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Familiarity with at least one of the following: real-time communication systems, media processing, streaming technologies, or related fields.
