This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee the daily operations of one or more software development teams, offering goal setting, mentorship, coaching, leadership, guidance, and performance management and feedback.
• Work closely with the Product Manager on the team to develop the roadmap, clarify requirements, and ensure successful execution by the team.
• Ensure that development deliverables are documented and that key decisions are captured in line with the design and development process.
• Assist with hiring efforts within the engineering department.
• Contribute to the identification of process issues and participate in the ongoing improvement of design, development processes, and system architecture.
• Ensure adherence to the development process throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Establish success metrics (KPIs and SLAs) and track team and system performance.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve performance, scalability, and reliability objectives.
• Keep abreast of trends, techniques, technologies, and other factors influencing the role, incorporating them as necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.
• A minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management position, along with at least 10 years of experience in software development.
• Proven experience leading teams of 10 or more engineers.
• Strong time management, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of conveying complex technical information to various stakeholders, including non-technical members of the organization.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
• Proven collaborative work style with the ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
• Ability to manage and complete overlapping projects while meeting strict deadlines.
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify core principles, reasons, or facts.
• Passionate about clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
• Driven to discover simple solutions to complex challenges.
• Experience with Kafka, distributed systems, and real-time streaming processing.
• Familiarity with container orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• NICE TO HAVE: Experience with PHP, Next.js, Python, AWS/Lambda, Elixir, building GraphQL APIs (Absinthe), GraphQL schema stitching & subscriptions, GCP, Kubernetes, public speaking, and contributions to open-source software.
