Senior Engineering Manager – Pro Feedback and Targeting

📋 Description

• Define and advance the technical vision and strategy for your team in collaboration with Product, Design, and Applied Science.

• Effectively collaborate with teams across the organization (e.g., Trust & Safety, Monetization) to drive cross-functional initiatives and address dependencies.

• Lead the execution of team goals and OKRs while guiding the team through complex technical trade-offs and achieving high-quality outcomes.

• Recruit, mentor, and manage full-stack engineers at all levels, including Staff+ engineers, while nurturing future technical leaders through consistent feedback, performance management, and career development.

• Foster and develop a high-performing culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

• Take responsibility for maintaining, scaling, and operating the infrastructure managed by your team.

• Collaborate closely with other engineering leaders to enhance Thumbtack's engineering culture, improve organizational effectiveness, and refine engineering practices in a fast-paced growth environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in an engineering management position.

• More than 5 years of experience in building software at scale.

• Proven experience partnering with Product, Design, Applied Science, and Data Science to define both product and technical strategy.

• Strong technical acumen with a track record of guiding teams through complex architectural and product-related trade-offs.

• Demonstrated experience leading senior engineers, building high-performing teams, and coaching engineers in their growth, performance, and career development.

• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration abilities with experience influencing stakeholders across organizations.

• Familiarity with experimentation, A/B testing, market-based testing, qualitative research, and metrics to inform product and engineering decisions.
