Senior Engineering Manager – Pro Feedback and Targeting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the technical vision and strategy for your team in collaboration with Product, Design, and Applied Science.

• Effectively partner with various teams across the organization (e.g., Trust & Safety, Monetization) to advance cross-functional initiatives and address dependencies.

• Lead the execution of team objectives and OKRs while navigating complex technical trade-offs and achieving high-quality results.

• Recruit, mentor, and oversee full-stack engineers at all levels, including Staff+ engineers, while fostering the growth of future technical leaders through consistent feedback, performance management, and career development.

• Cultivate and advance a high-performing culture characterized by excellence, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

• Take responsibility for maintaining, scaling, and managing the infrastructure owned by your team.

• Collaborate closely with other engineering leaders to refine Thumbtack's engineering culture, enhance organizational effectiveness, and improve engineering practices in a rapidly growing environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering management position.

• At least 5 years of experience in building software at scale.

• Proven experience collaborating with Product, Design, Applied Science, and Data Science to establish product and technical strategy.

• Strong technical judgment with a track record of guiding teams through intricate architectural and product decisions.

• Experience in leading senior engineers, building high-performing teams, and mentoring engineers through their growth, performance, and career advancement.

• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills, with experience influencing stakeholders across the organization.

• Familiarity with using experimentation, A/B testing, market-based testing, qualitative research, and metrics to guide product and engineering choices.
