Senior Engineering Manager, Privacy Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Expand, cultivate, oversee, and direct a multidisciplinary team of experienced software and systems engineers in all areas of Privacy.

• Provide guidance to executive and senior technical and business leaders regarding Instacart’s privacy vision through regular and effective written and face-to-face communication.

• Spearhead the Privacy Engineering collaboration with infrastructure and application teams to guarantee that all products are created and delivered with security and privacy considerations through the principle of Privacy by Design.

• Establish policies and procedures that safeguard our customer and partner data.

• Create and present metrics and reports to senior leadership regarding the key privacy and security risks and the overall health of their respective organizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in privacy engineering, providing comprehensive Privacy Engineering solutions and integrating privacy into products.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing an organization of 5 or more senior-level individual contributors.

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, upskill, lead, and expand teams. Must be capable of handling performance management, customer negotiations, and driving privacy-focused decisions with other partners.

• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud technology.

• Capacity to evaluate cost/benefit trade-offs of privacy initiatives within the context of overall business risk management and Instacart’s operational goals.

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields such as Mathematics or Engineering.

• Practical experience with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, etc.

• Hands-on experience in implementing privacy, trust, and security measures that have been integrated into consumer products and/or services.
