Senior Engineering Manager, Privacy Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +18 more states.

📋 Description

• Build, nurture, manage, and lead a diverse team of experienced software and systems engineers focused on all facets of Privacy.

• Counsel executive and senior technical and business leaders on Instacart's privacy strategy through regular and effective written and face-to-face communications.

• Spearhead the Privacy Engineering collaboration with infrastructure and application teams to ensure all products are designed and delivered with a strong emphasis on security and privacy through the concept of Privacy by Design.

• Establish policies and procedures that safeguard our customers' and partners' data.

• Create and present metrics and reports to senior leadership regarding the primary privacy and security risks and the overall health of their respective organizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of professional experience in privacy engineering, providing comprehensive Privacy Engineering solutions and integrating privacy into products.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing an organization of 5 or more senior individual contributors.

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, enhance skills, lead, and scale teams, with competence in performance management, customer negotiations, and driving privacy-focused decisions alongside partners.

• Extensive knowledge of distributed systems and cloud technologies.

• Capacity to evaluate cost/benefit trade-offs of privacy initiatives within the broader context of overall business risk reduction and Instacart's operational goals.

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields such as Mathematics or Engineering.

• Practical experience with regulations including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, etc.

• Hands-on experience implementing privacy, trust, and security measures that have been deployed in consumer products and/or services.
