Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Lead the Infrastructure team tasked with maintaining the speed and reliability of Patreon's engineering organization.

• Take ownership of the roadmap and execution across the platform.

• Balance reliability initiatives aimed at keeping the site operational with investments that enhance the efficiency of every engineer.

• Manage and develop individual contributors within the team.

• Oversee hiring, performance evaluations, and career development for the organization.

• Ensure operational excellence, which includes setting observability standards, managing on-call structures, incident responses, SLAs/SLOs, and conducting Production Readiness Reviews (PRR).

• Collaborate with leaders in Product Engineering, Security, and Data.

• Guarantee that infrastructure and tooling decisions do not hinder product delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in engineering.

• More than 5 years in an engineering management role.

• Ideally, experience in managing managers or senior individual contributors across multiple teams.

• Direct experience in leading infrastructure, platform, or developer-productivity teams that support a consumer product at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS or GCP.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes.

• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Comfortable operating scalable production systems that meet high availability and performance standards.

• Experience in establishing or scaling developer tooling such as CI/CD, testing platforms, or internal development environments is a plus.

• Exposure to AI-assisted software development is an advantage.

• Direct experience with the rollout of AI coding tools or agents at an organizational level, including metrics for adoption and established guardrails, is a plus.

• Ability to work fully remotely or be present in the office three days a week in either New York or San Francisco.
