This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and develop a team of backend/platform engineers responsible for creating systems that support Intercept and other essential applications.
• Oversee the execution of planning, prioritization, and delivery with an emphasis on reliability and scalability.
• Take ownership of the technical direction for backend services and APIs, ensuring that systems are secure, efficient, and maintainable.
• Collaborate with product and front-end teams to transform product requirements into robust backend architectures.
• Work in partnership with data science to deploy models and integrate decision-making systems into APIs and workflows.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure teams to enhance system reliability, observability, and developer experience.
• Participate in architectural decisions and guide the long-term development of the platform.
• Uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
• Assist with incident response and ensure that systems adhere to SLA expectations.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers while maintaining a high standard for hiring.
• Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to coding efforts and solve technical challenges as necessary.
• 3–7 years of experience in engineering management leading backend or platform teams.
• Strong background as a senior or staff-level backend engineer.
• Extensive experience in building API-driven systems using Golang, Python, or comparable programming languages.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and system design.
• Experience in owning and evolving backend architecture within production environments.
• Proven track record of delivering complex, customer-facing or platform solutions.
• Comfortable leading technical discussions and delving into implementation details.
• Experience in fast-paced startup or growth-stage settings.
• Preferred experience in building platforms that support product teams.
• Familiarity with data-intensive systems, OpenSearch, or risk/decisioning systems is a plus.
• Preferred experience in fintech or heavily regulated environments.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must reside in or intend to relocate to the United States by the start date.
