This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +17 more states.
• Directly contribute to the codebase by producing production code, reviewing pull requests, and addressing critical, complex, or unclear tasks.
• Design and implement scalable solutions while promoting robust engineering practices.
• Collaborate with, mentor, coach, and assist engineers in overcoming challenges to foster their professional growth.
• Lead the entire delivery process, balancing speed, technical excellence, and scalable design.
• Ensure engineering efforts align with company objectives and customer requirements; influence technical and product strategy.
• Develop systems, tools, and processes that enhance development speed, quality, and teamwork.
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, sales, and support teams.
• Provide support during pre-sales and customer onboarding, including integration details and gathering field feedback.
• Manage external integrations and partnerships with platforms.
• Define and take ownership of engineering metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Collaborate with Legal and Security teams to maintain compliance, privacy, and regulatory standards.
• Implement and scale the Vanilla AI Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) across the team and organization.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience, including current, hands-on coding.
• At least 3 years of experience leading engineers as a hands-on technical lead or player/coach engineering manager.
• Proven ability to function as a player/coach, dividing time between coding and leadership.
• A successful history of building and scaling complex software systems in high-growth SaaS companies or startups.
• Strong, up-to-date technical skills in coding, architecture, and debugging.
• A solid operational, process-oriented, and data-driven mindset.
• Experience in influencing product architecture and engineering strategy through a systems-thinking approach.
• Capability to navigate uncertainty and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for guiding technical discussions and aligning stakeholders.
• Prior experience in pre-sales engineering is highly valued.
• Project management experience is considered a significant advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must reside in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, or Washington.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
