This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage four engineering teams along with two principal engineers in the Payroll sector
• Collaborate continuously with engineering teams and leadership to support and shape team strategy
• Guide teams in navigating intricate Payroll systems and concepts
• Take ownership of product health, engineering quality, scalability, and ongoing improvements across multiple products
• Simplify project, service, and process complexities for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborate with teams to modernize outdated applications
• Align cross-functional development priorities with organizational leaders
• Present project timelines, system architectures, engineering practices, and quality strategies
• Identify risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them
• Provide realistic estimates and manage stakeholder expectations
• Set up communication and decision-making routines and frameworks
• Convey broader organizational initiatives to the teams
• Negotiate delivery trade-offs with Product partners, including considerations for technical debt and maintenance tasks
• Mentor and cultivate the growth of engineering managers and individual contributors
• Recruit globally distributed talent and conduct managerial interviews
• Create an environment of psychological safety and hold regular one-on-one and skip-level meetings
• Deliver clear performance feedback
• Encourage technical decision-making and finalize decisions when necessary
• Lead operational incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement postmortem improvements
• Establish growth opportunities and acknowledge high performance
• Hold leaders and teams accountable for secure, reusable, scalable, and high-quality software
• Build and nurture relationships with Product counterparts
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering
• More than 4 years in a management role overseeing several teams
• Proficient in observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty
• Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams within a SaaS or enterprise software environment
• Demonstrated success in strategy development with positive outcomes
• Collaborative project planning that includes risk/reward trade-offs, assumptions, and confidence levels
• Exceptional communication skills combined with a friendly and collaborative demeanor
• Proven history of direct and indirect influence through data-driven methods
• Basic understanding of enterprise financial planning and management tools
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, preferably AWS
• Understanding of SOA and microservices architectural patterns and their trade-offs
• Extensive experience in designing and developing large-scale .NET/SQL platforms
• Experience with asynchronous processing, modern APIs, and React-based ecosystems
• Strong passion for the role and accountability for team deliverables
• Ability to work effectively within an agile team setting
• Practical and innovative problem-solving skills
• Capacity to sit for prolonged periods, typically 7–8 hours daily
• Capability to operate computer and phone systems, type, and utilize multiple software programs simultaneously
