This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

• Lead and expand the Promise team comprising frontend, backend, and data science engineers.

• Take ownership of Promise’s roadmap and oversee end-to-end delivery processes.

• Collaborate with teams across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Support.

• Establish technical direction through PR reviews, architectural decisions, and AI-native engineering methodologies.

• Monitor advancements in AI and engineering, integrating relevant enhancements into team workflows.

• Conduct short, hypothesis-driven development cycles while upholding a high standard of quality.

• Recruit competent engineers, define clear OKRs linked to product objectives, and manage performance effectively.

• Develop and continuously refine the systems and models that underpin personalized delivery-date predictions.

• Over 8 years of core engineering experience.

• Proven experience in a staff engineer role.

• More than 3 years as an engineering manager in rapidly growing startups.

• Profound expertise in backend development and/or data science.

• Experience in leading teams across full-stack development and machine learning.

• Practical experience with AI tools.

• Proven ability to enhance productivity and the software development lifecycle through agent harnesses, loop engineering, and agentic workflows.

• Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, preferably GCP.

• Background in consumer-facing products where usability and conversion rates are critical.

• Experience directly managing engineers at the Staff level and above.

• A successful history of hiring top talent, nurturing engineers into Staff-level positions, and making decisive performance management decisions.

• Ability to work within EST/EDT or PST time zones.
