This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

• Establish and maintain the technical benchmarks across architecture, code quality, testing, and engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers in their craft, judgment, autonomy, and technical decision-making through constructive reviews, feedback, and architectural discussions.
• Develop a team capable of delivering consistently without relying on the manager as a bottleneck or sole point of failure.
• Define clear objectives, create effective dashboards and review processes, and utilize data to enhance team performance.
• Oversee architecture and technical strategy across diverse project types, technology stacks, and programming languages.
• Lead competently on unfamiliar technology stacks by applying robust engineering principles, systematic approaches, and review methodologies.
• Foster a culture of code review that identifies issues early, promotes continuous learning, and maintains high quality across projects.
• Enhance the team’s utilization of AI coding tools and agents through clear guidelines, guardrails, and disciplined review processes.
• Remain actively involved by contributing code to challenging tasks, critical problems, exploratory initiatives, and scalable patterns for the team.
• Organize monthly delivery cycles to ensure work is appropriately sized, realistically planned, and consistently executed across client projects.
• Enforce strong task discipline within the team, including defined ownership, accurate status updates, self-review prior to QA, and diligent follow-through.
• Take charge of engineering recruitment and evaluate candidates based on their craft, judgment, autonomy, and compatibility with the team.
• Collaborate with design, product, and client-facing colleagues to ensure delivery is clear, coordinated, and well-defined.
• Manage and refine the engineering operating system, which includes standards, patterns, review practices, and rituals.
• Communicate proactively within a remote team, sharing updates, decisions, risks, and recommendations in a timely manner.
• Over 4 years of experience in senior engineering leadership or management, focusing on leading and developing engineering teams.
• More than 8 years of experience in building production software across various technology stacks and programming languages.
• Strong technical judgment across the full stack, with the ability to remain hands-on and contribute code as necessary.
• Experience in delivering both B2B/SaaS products and eCommerce solutions.
• Background in agency work, including managing delivery across multiple clients or projects simultaneously.
• Proven experience as an independent contractor.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, elevate their skills, and foster a sense of autonomy.
• Strong architectural and system design judgment in diverse technical settings.
• High standards for quality, including typed, tested code, comprehensive code reviews, and self-assessments prior to QA.
• Experience in leading estimation processes, planning delivery cycles, and managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Excellent proficiency in professional English, both spoken and written.
• Proactive and independent communication skills within a fully remote team environment.
• Reliable availability during standard US Central Time business hours.
• Residing in Latin America and capable of working as an independent contractor.
• Practical and fluent use of AI coding tools and agents.
