This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a comprehensive organization-wide strategy for API development, version control, governance, and lifecycle oversight.

• Lead and enhance the event registry, focusing on standards for event schemas, ownership, discoverability, and versioning.

• Collaborate with teams to design and refine integration patterns, reference architectures, templates, and implementation standards.

• Facilitate a weekly Production Readiness and Review Council, ensuring compliance with go-live, operational, security, and reliability standards.

• Advocate for observability and operational excellence, focusing on monitoring, telemetry, tracing, alerting, and incident response.

• Enhance system resilience and recovery methodologies through failure-oriented design and learning from incidents.

• Establish standards and guidelines for AI-assisted development and rapid prototyping initiatives.

• Provide experiences for internal engineering teams utilizing Lean principles.

• Foster a learning organization driven by DevOps and SRE principles.

• Promote continuous improvement through mentorship, feedback, and performance metrics.

• Ensure that APIs, event contracts, integration templates, and tools are developed with a product-oriented approach.

• Create collaborative solutions with enterprise partners.

• Support portfolio health metrics and define measurable quality, reliability, and security objectives.

• Assess regulatory concerns from a development standpoint to minimize audit efforts.

• Assist in establishing engineering standards and conventions.

• Mentor and guide team members in their professional growth.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• 10+ years of pertinent experience in designing, building, and operating distributed systems.

• 5+ years of experience supporting cloud-native applications on platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• 5+ years of experience in designing, governing, or managing APIs at scale using REST, gRPC, and/or GraphQL.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, messaging or streaming platforms, and event schema management.

• 5+ years of experience in building or scaling production observability practices, including monitoring, telemetry, tracing, and alerting.

• Proven experience in establishing engineering standards, templates, or reference architectures that are adopted across multiple teams.

• Experience leading production readiness reviews, architecture review boards, or similar governance forums.

• Experience in building platforms within regulated industries that involve PCI, SOC1|2, SOX, or ECOA.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and their responsible adoption at scale is a plus.

• Experience defining or managing an event/schema registry in a large, multi-team organization is a plus.

• Proven experience collaborating with technical specialists, architects, Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and business partners.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience facilitating cross-team technical discussions.

• Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.

• Robust program management and strategy deployment expertise.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
