Senior Engineering Delivery Manager

📋 Description

• Facilitate reliable, high-quality delivery by creating scalable planning processes, delivery governance, and cross-functional collaboration that empower Product and Engineering teams to operate with confidence, consistency, and transparency while enhancing leadership effectiveness without unnecessary bureaucracy.

• Establish and maintain a predictable planning rhythm to ensure engineering commitments are realistic, attainable, and consistently fulfilled.

• Enhance execution effectiveness by improving the quality and outcomes of delivery meetings through careful preparation, clear decision-making, documented action items, and consistent follow-through.

• Mentor Product and Engineering teams on practical delivery best practices that enhance execution while preserving a lean, low-bureaucracy operating model.

• Provide leadership with an accurate, up-to-date view of delivery health so that decisions are informed by real data rather than unexpected surprises.

• Identify risks and dependencies early enough for proactive organizational responses rather than reactive measures.

• Ensure releases are prepared and that scope, risk, and operational readiness are confirmed prior to go-live.

• Keep delivery systems current, ensuring that status, ownership, and forecasts are trustworthy for leadership.

• Transform capacity and quarterly/sprint planning into a disciplined, repeatable process, ensuring that delivery commitments align with actual team capacity and remain valid once work commences.

• Align Product and Engineering teams around realistic trade-offs and coach them towards practical, sustainable delivery practices.

• Turn lessons learned into repeatable practices so that delivery capabilities grow with the business.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in engineering delivery, technical program management, engineering operations, software program management, Scrum leadership, or a similar role.

• Proven experience coordinating complex software projects across multiple teams or functions.

• Strong skills in planning, sequencing, dependency management, risk assessment, and delivery forecasting.

• Experience in facilitating planning, refinement, delivery reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness.

• Practical understanding of Scrum and Kanban methodologies, with the ability to adapt practices to meet organizational needs.

• Proficient working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, including boards, workflows, dashboards, filters, and reporting capabilities.

• Experience utilizing delivery metrics such as cycle time, throughput, predictability, work in progress, and milestone health.

• Familiarity with software lifecycles, testing, releases, environments, APIs, integrations, CI/CD, and technical debt.

• Ability to engage credibly with engineers without the necessity of performing development or making architectural decisions.

• Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering leaders to translate priorities into actionable plans.

• Strong facilitation abilities and the capacity to drive decisions, ownership, and follow-through.

• Proven ability to influence stakeholders without relying on direct authority.

• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, listening, and executive communication skills.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to identify and communicate delivery risks early, directly, and constructively.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.

• Ability to work independently while closely collaborating across functions.

• A hands-on approach to reporting, workflows, facilitation, and follow-through.

• Demonstrated interest and potential for growth into broader engineering operations leadership roles.
