Senior Engineer – Overhead Transmission Line Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Plan, manage, and oversee civil/structural analysis and project execution for distribution and high-voltage transmission lines.

• Complete calculations, construction drawings, contracts, technical specifications, and design standards.

• Conduct civil/structural engineering analyses and design for distribution/transmission lines up to 500kV.

• Prepare intricate engineering deliverables.

• Organize and facilitate design review meetings.

• Develop and support construction contracts, material take-offs, material standards, and technical specifications.

• Create drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purposes.

• Research and recommend selections for equipment and materials.

• Coordinate construction activities and review submissions.

• Communicate project scopes, financials, and timelines.

• Assist in managing project budgets.

• Develop training modules and initiatives as requested by the Principal Engineer.

• Stay updated on relevant regulations, laws, standards, and best practices.

• Provide technical guidance and support in managing the work of others.

• Act as a liaison for construction field crews and project management.

• Assist with business development and pursuit initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design.

• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.

• Capability to analyze challenges and devise effective strategic and functional solutions.

• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and manage projects independently.

• Extensive knowledge of civil/structural transmission line design.

• Familiarity with field techniques related to transmission line construction.

• Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and MFAD.

• Competence in Microsoft Office and standard business office software.

• Understanding of surveying techniques, practices, and procedures.

• Comprehensive knowledge of safe working practices for electric transmission lines.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or the ability to obtain a PE in California.

• Willingness and capacity to travel up to 15%.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Ability to function effectively as a team member.
