Senior Engineer, Mechanical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate mechanical/HVAC design documents, calculations, and submissions to ensure they are comprehensive, feasible, and compliant with Government standards; provide written feedback and suggested solutions.

• Assist in facility condition assessments by reviewing mechanical systems documentation, pinpointing issues, and proposing corrective measures.

• Conduct technical research and analysis concerning HVAC performance, ventilation, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality; document results for Government review.

• Create and/or assess equipment schedules, operational sequences, and engineering options analyses to facilitate Government assessment.

• Write technical contributions for Statements of Work, performance criteria, acceptance standards, and evaluation factors for Government consideration and approval.

• Collaborate with architectural and other engineering disciplines to pinpoint interfaces (e.g., power, controls, spatial limitations) and integration challenges.

• Assist in the review of commissioning and closeout documentation (as applicable), including verification checklists and deficiency monitoring.

• Develop technical presentations, decision-support matrices, and executive summaries for Government stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess either a RA or PE certification.

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field (or equivalent relevant experience).

• At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical/HVAC engineering.

• Ability to secure and maintain DOJ/BOP suitability, background checks, and facility access as required.

• Familiarity with applicable mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IMC) and engineering best practices.

• Proven capability to generate clear technical documentation, comment matrices, and decision-support analyses.

• Proficient in common software tools (e.g., MS Office; experience with energy modeling or commissioning workflows is advantageous).
