Senior Engineer – Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain comprehensive CRM and mass-data synchronization integrations as product offerings.

• Update integrations in response to changes in Donorbox and other third-party systems.

• Ensure accurate and secure transfer of records between systems, incorporating deduplication, handling of partial failures, and resumable operations.

• Implement monitoring, error reporting, and logging systems to diagnose integration failures effectively.

• Design data models and public APIs and webhooks, focusing on aspects such as naming conventions, pagination, and error handling semantics.

• Evaluate requirements through a Jobs-to-be-Done perspective and question those that do not align with actual user needs.

• Factor feasibility and engineering costs into the prioritization process.

• Utilize pull request reviews as an educational opportunity.

• Assist agents with technical inquiries during their shifts, treating escalations as signals for product improvement.

• Keep developer-oriented and internal documentation precise and up to date.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in building and utilizing REST APIs, with strong opinions on versioning, pagination, and error handling semantics.

• Proven track record of integrating with external systems that you do not manage, handling rate limits, partial failures, retries, idempotency, and webhook deliveries.

• Skilled in transferring data between systems with differing data models, including deduplication, record mapping, and reconciliation processes.

• Capability to design data models and Rails objects for medium-scale features.

• Proficient in SQL for complex operational and bulk queries.

• Competent in interpreting a PostgreSQL EXPLAIN.

• Committed to writing behavior-focused tests that endure through refactoring.

• Familiarity with Minitest.

• Demonstrated ability to independently navigate ambiguous challenges to successful completion without extensive specifications.

• Provide honest evaluations of trade-offs and maintain realistic delivery timelines.

• Eager to assist colleagues and enhance team efficiency.

• Knowledge or proficiency in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Vanilla JavaScript, Hotwire, Semantic HTML, CSS, PostgreSQL, relational databases, REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, Minitest, fixtures, MVC, and object-oriented programming principles.
