This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.
• Deliver strategic and commercially viable guidance on employment law issues within Australia and the wider APAC region.
• Provide advice on everyday employment concerns affecting Canva’s workforce, including performance management, departures, investigations, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate closely with the People, Total Rewards, Finance teams, and other essential stakeholders to facilitate Canva’s growth and adapt to its evolving workforce model.
• Assist in the creation, execution, and evaluation of workplace policies, procedures, guidance, and templates.
• Facilitate and conduct training sessions on employment-related subjects.
• Work together with the global Employment Legal Team on international projects and common objectives.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Australia.
• Over 6 years of experience as a practicing employment lawyer (in-house experience in a multinational setting is highly valued).
• Extensive experience providing counsel to HR/People teams and business leaders on a wide array of employment issues.
• Ability to navigate uncertainty confidently while balancing legal risks with commercial sensibility.
• Exceptional communication skills with the capability to simplify complex legal ideas into actionable solutions.
