This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage all technical components of AC power substation projects.
• Perform design tasks independently.
• Act as the primary technical authority, overseeing scheduling, adherence to standards and specifications, value engineering, planning for design reviews, and ensuring quality assurance and control.
• Create and supervise essential design deliverables, such as power single-line diagrams and general substation arrangement drawings.
• Serve as the main contact for all technical inquiries among customers, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Responsible for guiding and assisting engineers and designers to fulfill technical specifications, budget limitations, and project schedules.
• Facilitate cross-discipline collaboration to provide fully integrated substation solutions.
• Review and contribute to proposal documents, including conceptual engineering and proposal materials.
• Develop specifications for high-voltage equipment and contractor work scopes; assist with vendor engagement and equipment selection.
• Support the manager in optimizing team productivity and ensuring billable utilization.
• Guarantee that all engineering outputs align with customer Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements and are delivered promptly and within budget.
• Assist in commissioning and facilitate interactions between customers and project stakeholders.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 12 years of experience in industrial or utility High Voltage (+138kV) substation design.
• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of pertinent experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, including internationally.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing.
• Familiarity with EHV substation design standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering, including utility and renewable energy projects.
• Experience in primary (outdoor) substation design, calculations, and electrical protection.
• Knowledge of industrial power system design for voltages of 12.5 kV and above.
• Proficient in critical design calculations, such as battery sizing, DC system design, and AC auxiliary power.
• Understanding of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.
• Experience in field testing and commissioning, with a strong focus on safety.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities, both electrical and mechanical.
• Exceptional communication skills for customer interactions and commercial awareness.
