Engineering Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Build and expand a high-achieving engineering team.

• Take ownership of daily engineering operations including sprint delivery, technical quality, and capacity planning.

• Foster technical excellence through architecture decisions, code quality management, DevOps/GitOps practices, and production reliability.

• Act as the main point of escalation for technical challenges, inter-team dependencies, and delivery risks.

• Collaborate with the SVP on recruitment, team development, vendor partnerships, and strategic initiatives.

• Manage the engineering delivery rhythm by overseeing sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives while coordinating capacity across multiple workstreams.

• Conduct technical design evaluations and architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and consistent with our medallion data architecture.

• Define and uphold engineering standards, including code reviews, branching strategies, CI/CD, testing protocols, documentation, and incident management.

• Serve as the engineering liaison to Insights Hub, Evidence Solutions, Product Solutions, and IT, translating business needs into technical requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering roles.

• Over 3 years of experience leading engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and accountability for delivery.

• Hands-on experience with modern data stacks: cloud data warehouses (preferably Snowflake), transformation frameworks, and orchestration tools.

• Proven track record in executing complex data platform projects, including migrations, consolidations, and greenfield developments.

• Experience operating within regulated or compliance-sensitive settings.

• Ability to review code, troubleshoot production issues, and make informed architectural decisions.
