This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engage in authentic electrical engineering for our FEL-2 and early-phase delivery projects, taking charge of the elements our software cannot yet manage, ensuring timely project completion.
• Serve as the quality assurance checkpoint for Candid's automated electrical outputs: identify issues before they reach clients and provide feedback for product improvement.
• Establish the development and validation process for electrical scope during FEED on power and gas-to-power projects, defining the standards of excellence.
• Review and validate electrical deliverables for early-phase packages, including single-lines, load lists, transformer and switchgear sizing, distribution architecture, and grounding.
• Create repeatable checks that identify inconsistencies in load assumptions, equipment requirements, and package interfaces.
• Analyze the sources and reasons for electrical rework, mapping its occurrences and the inputs that drive it.
• Clarify the interface points with Mechanical, Process, Instrumentation, and grid interconnection.
• Differentiate between genuinely repetitive tasks and those requiring real engineering judgment.
• Assist in defining the checks, workflows, and product requirements that enable software to handle repetitive tasks while ensuring engineers maintain control.
• At least 7 years of experience in a large-scale EPC, PMC, owner-operator, or utility environment, primarily focused on power generation or gas-to-power projects.
• Direct involvement in combined cycle, simple cycle, gas-to-power, LNG, or cogeneration projects (excluding refining or solely petrochemical work).
• Proven experience in developing single-line diagrams and electrical load lists throughout the FEED process.
• Strong expertise in power system architecture, including GSU and station service transformers, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, distribution, and grounding.
• Proficient with power system study tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, PSS/E, or similar (load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash analysis).
• Knowledgeable about NEC/NFPA 70, IEEE, NESC, NERC, and IEC standards.
• Familiar with grid interconnection and switchyard interfaces.
• Quick to identify inconsistencies across load lists, single-lines, and vendor packages.
• Clearly understand cross-discipline dependencies.
• Experience feeling constrained by large company processes and seeking a change.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking on multiple roles; prioritize action over waiting for ideal conditions.
• Competitive base salary plus equity.
• Unlimited PTO to ensure great work is accompanied by adequate recharging.
• Comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision care.
• Health and wellness reimbursement of up to $150/month for gym memberships, fitness classes, and similar activities.
