This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Provide engineering assistance for HVDC terrestrial and underwater cable systems as well as converter stations.
• Assist with HVDC cable routing and the feasibility studies for converter stations.
• Offer technical support throughout the project permitting process.
• Prepare conceptual engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to create electrical engineering design timelines and budgets.
• Facilitate utility interface and technical coordination for clients.
• Conduct power system studies, which include load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Develop and assess PSCAD models.
• Create one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, BOMs, wire schedules, and interconnection diagrams.
• Oversee testing of HVDC equipment and systems.
• Formulate construction and equipment specifications.
• Provide project support during construction, startup, and commissioning as required.
• Execute grounding analysis and design.
• Review engineering work completed by colleagues.
• Attend meetings with clients.
• Advocate for AECOM's capabilities while sustaining the existing client portfolio.
• Deliver specialized technical input and expertise for studies and design activities.
• Present intricate technical solutions to clients.
• Conduct quality control reviews of work generated by others.
• Engage in the development of technical proposals.
• Provide estimates for engineering budgets and timelines.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant HVAC and HVDC experience, or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Background in electrical power engineering, along with some leadership experience.
• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• Preferred 10+ years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Experience working with FACTS.
• Familiarity with power systems analysis software, such as ASPEN OneLiner, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AcSELerator, or EnerVista.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and other industry codes and standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead engineering tasks.
• Experience with full EPC and Design/Build projects from initiation to completion.
• Field experience in plant startup and commissioning.
• Experience in Owner’s Engineering.
• Ability to work with remote teams.
