This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the electrical design and integration of MEP projects in the commercial, healthcare, and industrial sectors from the initial concept to the construction administration phase.
• Create comprehensive electrical construction documentation, which includes medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, low-voltage systems, and emergency power solutions.
• Produce single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and layouts for electrical rooms.
• Execute electrical load calculations, short-circuit analyses, voltage drop assessments, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing evaluations.
• Design branch power, lighting, emergency power, and lighting control systems in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and assessments of existing conditions.
• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design/drafting personnel.
• Participate in client meetings, design coordination sessions, and construction progress discussions.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings for technical accuracy.
• Provide support during construction administration, which includes site observations, generating punch lists, and resolving issues.
• Develop project specifications, design basis narratives, and technical reports.
• Utilize engineering software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, Visual Lighting, and others for design and analysis tasks.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring adherence to quality, schedule, and budget goals.
• Collaborate with a multi-discipline project team of internal and external architects and engineers to guarantee successful project execution and client satisfaction.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design for MEP/building systems projects is necessary.
• In-depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, IEEE standards, and applicable local codes is essential.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Familiarity with electrical analysis and lighting software such as SKM and Visual Lighting is preferred.
• A solid understanding of construction documents and engineering design processes is important.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
• Experience in mentoring junior engineering staff and leading project teams is preferred.
• Significant experience in hospitals and healthcare settings, military bases, government buildings and courthouses, research laboratories, central steam and chilled water plants, corrections facilities, and/or site utility infrastructure is highly valued.
