This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and manage safe, technically precise, and cost-efficient power distribution and electrical systems for station facilities and accommodations.
• Lead the design of MV/LV power distribution systems, which encompasses power generation, microgrids, and the integration of renewable energy sources.
• Act as the Engineer of Record (PE) for electrical project submissions and technical assessments.
• Facilitate communication among engineering, design, and program teams to ensure high-quality and consistent technical drawings and design packages.
• Implement project timelines while upholding quality standards and achieving project objectives.
• Create construction-ready documentation utilizing industry-standard design practices.
• Conduct electrical sizing calculations for various systems, equipment, and cables.
• Specify and select electrical equipment based on performance criteria.
• Integrate packaged equipment into comprehensive system designs.
• Produce detailed design drawings, including single-line diagrams, load lists, plans, details, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and fabrication drawings.
• Adhere to relevant industry codes and standards, including IBC, API, NEC, NFPA, and ANSI/IEEE.
• Assess third-party risk evaluations and studies, such as short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash analyses using ETAP or SKM.
• Collaborate with engineering support leads, technical disciplines, and operational clients.
• A recognized Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Professional licensure in Electrical Engineering.
• At least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
• US citizenship is required.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance prior to commencement.
• Successful completion of NSF-required physical and dental examinations for deployment to Antarctica.
• Proven knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles, procedures, design guides, standards, administrative practices, engineering systems and calculations, statistical analysis, engineering methods, and technology-assisted engineering tools.
• Familiarity with instrumentation controls and automation.
• Understanding of hazard analysis programs such as ETAP and SKM for evaluating third-party analyses and recommendations.
• Proficient in communicating engineering solutions effectively, both verbally and in writing, to management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
• Preferred: Electrical Engineering PE with a focus on Power.
• Experience in electrical design within extremely cold environments or remote locations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledgeable in CAD design software, including Revit.
• Ability to present information to audiences with diverse levels of knowledge and different learning styles.
