Senior DSL Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute compiler frontend components, such as the lexer, parser, abstract syntax tree, and compiler passes.

• Create and implement type inference and shape inference systems for the domain-specific language (DSL).

• Design intuitive and actionable error and warning messages that assist users in understanding and resolving issues in their code.

• Work with and enhance a proprietary automatic reference counting system that manages memory across the frontend.

• Engage in code reviews to uphold code quality and ensure sound design choices.

• Collaborate through pair programming sessions.

• Contribute to the complete software engineering lifecycle, including product specification, requirements gathering, high-level design, low-level design, implementation, and testing.

• Aid in shaping the design of future DSLs as the platform evolves into additional scientific computing areas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Significant experience in designing and implementing domain-specific languages.

• Profound expertise in compiler frontend engineering, including lexical analysis, parsing, AST design, semantic analysis, and compiler passes.

• Strong background in type inference and shape inference systems.

• Solid professional experience with C++ adhering to modern standards.

• Comprehensive understanding of automatic reference counting concepts and object lifetime management in C++, with a thorough familiarity with the semantics of shared_ptr, weak_ptr, and unique_ptr.

• Experience in designing compiler diagnostics (errors and warnings) that are clear and beneficial to end users.

• Familiarity with the entire software engineering lifecycle, including product specification, requirements gathering, high-level design, low-level design, implementation, and testing.

• General knowledge of GPUs or other accelerator devices and their significance in high-performance computing and machine learning applications.
