
Senior Distribution Powerline Technician, Foreman

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Facilitate and lead morning tailboard meetings with the entire crew in attendance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including but not limited to wearing safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility apparel, face guards, and more.
• Liaise with the construction manager regarding safety concerns, potential hazards, and other relevant issues.
• Comply with and enforce all company-specific and industry-specific safety standards.
• Supervise the erection of steel and wood poles, towers, and guy wires.
• Install overhead and underground power lines, insulators, conductors, transformers, switches, and related equipment.
• Carry out conductor stringing, sagging, clipping, and dead-ending tasks (both energized and de-energized).
• Perform advanced system switching operations, including reclosers and loop feeds.
• Conduct underground (UG) cable testing, terminations, and equipment installations.
• Splice, solder, and insulate conductors for secure connections.
• Exemplify safe work practices and ensure the crew adheres to Valard’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies.
• Mentor apprentices and junior staff on tasks, safety protocols, and the use of equipment.
• Conduct and assess tailboards, Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), and daily safety checklists.
• Efficiently execute advanced live line work procedures and instruct apprentices on fundamental live line techniques.
• Lead or assist in job hazard assessments, fall protection strategies, and critical lift plans.
• Ensure accurate documentation of safety forms, inspections, and adherence to procedures.
• Submit daily reports and documentation.
• Certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT).
• Prior experience in leading teams of Powerline Technicians.
• Hands-on experience with direct power distribution.
• Valid Driver's License (Preference for Commercial Driver's License) with the capability to provide an acceptable Driver's Abstract.
• Proven experience in energized work, system switching, and underground installations.
• Class 4 Rubber Glove experience.
• Strong comprehension of construction and maintenance procedures for distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints and electrical schematics.
• Preference for certifications such as Confined Space Certificate, Utility Work Protection Code (UWPC), Working at Heights Certification, and First Aid (CPR/AED).
