This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Lead the strategic vision, digital experience design, and operational management of WWF-US's web presence, which includes worldwildlife.org and its associated digital properties.
• Oversee the strategy for web experience, user experience design, digital discoverability, and web performance, acting as the primary strategic liaison with WWF's external development partner.
• Shape WWF's digital presence across search engines, AI-powered platforms, and emerging discovery channels.
• Collaborate with the Director of Digital Content, the VP of Digital Platforms, and leaders from Integrated Marketing, Conservation, and Development to further WWF's digital strategy, audience engagement, and fundraising objectives.
• Convert organizational priorities into a clear, measurable web experience strategy, ensuring the website consistently embodies WWF's brand, values, and mission.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required; a master's degree or relevant graduate degree in digital strategy, user experience, communications, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 12 years of progressive experience in web strategy, digital experience, or related fields, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• A relevant graduate degree may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
• Proven experience in translating organizational strategy into digital experience outcomes, with a history of leading large-scale web initiatives from concept to execution.
• Comprehensive understanding of the changing digital discoverability landscape, including SEO, technical SEO, AEO, GEO, and how AI-driven platforms display and present web content.
• Conceptual grasp of the entire web development ecosystem, including domains and hosting, version control (e.g., Git/GitHub), and deployment pipelines.
• Capability to make informed strategic decisions, guide cross-functional teams, and effectively engage with engineering partners in these matters, without needing hands-on implementation expertise.
• Proficiency in web analytics platforms (Google Analytics 4 or equivalent) and experience in creating data-driven performance frameworks that link web metrics to organizational objectives; working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern front-end principles; experience with CMS architectures (Wagtail or similar Python/Django-based CMS is a plus); proficiency with UX/UI design tools (Figma or equivalent) and familiarity with design systems, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA or higher), user research methods, and usability testing.
• Extensive experience managing external development agencies or vendors, including contract negotiation, SLA management, roadmap governance, and budget oversight.
• Strong skills in budget management, with experience overseeing multi-year budgets across internal teams and vendor partnerships.
• Familiarity with project management platforms (Airtable, Basecamp, Jira, or equivalent) and agile/iterative development methodologies.
• Outstanding strategic communication abilities, with the capacity to translate technical complexities for non-technical audiences and organizational strategies for technical teams.
• Proven ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships across functions, levels, and disciplines within a complex organizational environment.
• Strong leadership presence, with experience influencing and building organizational consensus around digital priorities.
• Ability to juggle multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, making sound decisions amid ambiguity and in fast-paced settings.
