This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and nurture a diverse engineering organization encompassing software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering, and scientific/genomic science pipelines.
• Cultivate a culture of high accountability and performance, rooted in ownership, execution excellence, continuous learning, and customer impact.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop leaders in engineering along with high-potential talent.
• Implement clear operational mechanisms, engineering standards, and scalable workflows across teams.
• Promote organizational health, engagement, and retention within the technology division.
• Define and implement the technology strategy of the company in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer.
• Ensure architectural decisions align with scalability, reliability, security, and long-term business goals.
• Balance the reduction of technical debt with product innovation and business priorities.
• Create engineering roadmaps that are in line with the company strategy and product objectives.
• Direct Embark’s engineering strategy for AI-driven product development, internal workflows, and software development methodologies.
• Collaborate with Product, Science, and Data teams to discover opportunities where AI and machine learning can enhance customer experiences and improve operational efficiencies.
• Act as a strategic ally to Product leadership in converting vision into scalable technical execution.
• Enhance planning, prioritization, estimation, and execution practices across various teams.
• Clarify technical trade-offs, dependencies, and resource allocation.
• Define and monitor key engineering metrics, including delivery effectiveness, reliability, quality, and developer productivity.
• Contribute to the overall company strategy, planning, and organizational decision-making.
• Effectively communicate technology strategy and progress to cross-functional stakeholders.
• 8-10+ years of progressive experience in engineering leadership.
• Proven experience guiding senior engineering leaders across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated experience in owning engineering strategy and execution for consumer-facing digital products.
• In-depth understanding of modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and software development lifecycle practices.
• Experience in driving cross-functional initiatives that involve product, engineering, data, and business teams.
• Strong comprehension of data platforms, analytics ecosystems, and AI/ML applications.
• Experience in establishing engineering operating models, organizational design, and scalable development processes.
