This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Maintain a high level of expertise in hospital ranking, rating, and benchmarking methodologies.
• Transform methodology specifications into data requirements and analytical models.
• Act as the clinical and quality subject-matter expert for the quality, coding/CDI, clinical operations, and analytics/IT teams.
• Provide guidance to executive and clinical leadership regarding methodology changes and ranking trends.
• Design, construct, and validate AI/ML and rules-based algorithms for documentation, coding, risk adjustment, mortality, and quality attribution gaps.
• Identify variations and gaps in clinical care processes that impact benchmarked outcomes.
• Utilize NLP/LLM approaches on clinical notes, EHR data, and claims data.
• Collaborate with CDI, coding, quality, and clinical leadership to convert findings into workflow and performance improvement initiatives.
• Create and manage Databricks data pipelines and feature stores that integrate EHR, claims, coding, and quality measure data.
• Develop and implement predictive and generative AI models within the Databricks Lakehouse environment, including monitoring, versioning, and governance.
• Ensure healthcare data security, privacy, HIPAA compliance, and auditability.
• Establish the multi-year ranking/rating performance roadmap in collaboration with the GM of Insights and executive sponsors.
• Advise C-suite and clinical executives on quality strategies, investment priorities, and reputational risks.
• Align stakeholders across clinical, coding/CDI, quality, IT/analytics, and executive functions; mentor analysts and data scientists.
• Create benchmarking dashboards and predictive indicators.
• Recommend and prioritize clinical process enhancements linked to ranking/rating factors.
• Present findings to physician leadership, quality committees, and executives.
• Represent analytics and quality directly to senior executive leadership.
• Clinical background and licensure/credentialing (e.g., RN, MD/DO, PharmD, or equivalent clinical degree) or a graduate degree in Clinical/Health Informatics with significant hands-on clinical quality experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in clinical informatics, clinical quality, CDI, or population health analytics, including direct experience with hospital ranking/rating methodologies.
• More than 5 years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines and/or ML models in Databricks using Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
• Proficient in SQL and Python.
• Proven experience applying AI/ML, including NLP/LLM techniques, to clinical and/or claims data for gap detection, risk stratification, or quality measurement.
• Extensive working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and risk-adjustment models such as APR-DRG, MS-DRG, and HCC/RAF.
• Capability to operate independently as a senior individual contributor with director-level scope, autonomy, and executive exposure.
• Ability to manage projects from clinical hypothesis through to deployed algorithm and executive-level recommendation.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey technical/statistical findings to physician and executive audiences.
