Senior Director, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Define and execute strategic technical direction along with engineering best practices.

• Cultivate a culture that emphasizes quality, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.

• Supervise the architecture and technical decisions, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with the organization’s long-term objectives.

• Keep up-to-date with AI and machine learning technologies to enhance engineering workflows, boost developer productivity, and streamline development processes.

• Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier engineering talent.

• Oversee the growth and expansion of engineering capabilities in strategically chosen global locations.

• Drive the adoption and implementation of contemporary software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud-native practices).

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment on product objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

• Manage budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships related to engineering initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree in healthcare, life sciences, computer science, business, or a related field is preferred.

• Progressive engineering leadership experience that equips the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the role (comparable to 10+ years of experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in leadership positions managing software engineering teams.

• Experience leading engineering teams in a product-driven, customer-focused environment.

• Proven track record in establishing new functions or scaling early-stage engineering teams within large, complex organizations.

• Demonstrated success in driving large-scale digital transformations and building robust, scalable platforms.

• Extensive expertise in modern software development practices, cloud technologies, microservices architecture, DevOps methodologies, and security frameworks.
