Senior Director of Business Development – CT2 Programs

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for C2 that aligns with corporate growth objectives and key military training markets.

• Manage the C2 military training pipeline and booking strategy, encompassing opportunity qualification, pipeline health, probability-weighted forecasting, win strategy, and annual growth objectives.

• Influence and shape requirements early in the acquisition process to align customer training and readiness needs with Red 6's capabilities.

• Drive opportunities from initial customer engagement and demonstrations through validated requirements, funded programs, acquisition strategies, contract awards, and transition to execution.

• Oversee the entire business development lifecycle: opportunity identification, qualification, capture strategies, proposal assistance, negotiations, awards, and contract transitions.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior military officials, requirements organizations, acquisition offices, program offices, training commands, industry partners, prime contractors, and integrators.

• Identify opportunities across U.S. military services, joint organizations, special operations, and training customers from allied or partner nations.

• Create customer engagement maps and plans that encompass operational, requirements, acquisition, budget, contracting, and technical stakeholders.

• Maintain competitive and market intelligence related to C2, including budgets, acquisition timelines, existing training architectures, competitor positioning, and teaming partners.

• Formulate partnership and ecosystem strategies, offering recommendations on priming, subcontracting, teaming, or integrating with larger training system architectures and platforms.

• Collaborate with teams in product development, engineering, programs, marketing, finance, contracts, and executive leadership.

• Design business cases and value propositions that link Red 6 technology to training effectiveness, readiness, cost efficiency, throughput, and operational results.

• Provide weekly updates to staff, pipeline forecasts, and quarterly progress reports to executive leadership.

• Contribute to business development processes, including CRM practices, opportunity qualification, formal capture, proposal workflows, and lessons learned.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in business development, capture, military training, acquisition, or the defense industry, including significant leadership roles.

• Proven success in developing and capturing large-scale DoD training, simulation, readiness, or emerging technology opportunities.

• Strong knowledge of DoD requirements, acquisition, budgeting/POM processes, appropriations, and contracting pathways, including SBIR, OTA, IDIQ, and FAR-based acquisitions.

• Capability to transition emerging defense technologies from prototypes, demonstrations, experiments, or pilot activities into funded programs, production, training deployments, or scalable contracts.

• Preferred background in modeling and simulation, flight or operational training, LVC systems, synthetic training environments, distributed mission training, or military training ranges.

• Familiarity with military training architectures, syllabi, readiness requirements, training systems, and methodologies for assessing training effectiveness and mission readiness.

• Ability to engage independently and brief senior military leaders, flag/general officers, SES leaders, PEO/PM leadership, acquisition executives, operational commanders, and senior industry leaders.

• Strong skills in customer mapping, stakeholder engagement, opportunity shaping, business case development, and capture strategies.

• Knowledge of Shipley or a similar formal capture methodology.

• Experience in leading proposals for both traditional and nontraditional FAR-based acquisition processes.

• Proven track record in building relationships and teaming strategies with DoD acquisition offices, prime contractors, integrators, and technology partners.

• General technical fluency with AR, XR, LVC, simulation, and advanced training technologies; expert-level engineering knowledge is not mandatory.

• Outstanding executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

• Preferred experience in senior military leadership, operational training, instructor roles, requirements, acquisition, or program management.

• Established credibility and relationships within the U.S. military training, readiness, simulation, and acquisition communities are preferred.

• Experience in supporting joint, multi-service, or allied training programs is preferred.

• Experience in taking a new or disruptive defense capability from initial customer interest through sustained program funding and contract growth is preferred.
