Senior Director – Foundation Relations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage the Foundation Relations team, ensuring workflow oversight, writing and editing assistance, and collaboration with program colleagues to develop funding opportunities.

• Mentor and develop team members to foster a sense of ownership and gradually increase their responsibilities.

• Delegate tasks efficiently to enhance team capacity and improve execution across grant processes.

• Supervise grant management systems to guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of proposals and reports.

• Collaborate with internal colleagues to ensure that reporting expectations, timelines, and funded activities are well understood and achievable.

• Manage and expand a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects through cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal strategies.

• Propel significant donor engagement through proposals, meetings, stewardship updates, and event participation.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to strategically engage them in donor relationships.

• Establish and manage consistent moves management processes across the foundation portfolio.

• Identify and promote high-impact funding opportunities that align with SPN’s mission while avoiding unfunded scope or misaligned program commitments.

• Act as a senior leader contributing to development strategy, problem-solving, and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in foundation relations or institutional fundraising.

• Demonstrated success in securing and managing five-, six-, and ideally seven-figure gifts.

• More than 5 years of team leadership and coaching experience.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.

• Exceptional skills in writing, editing, and project management.

• Proven experience working collaboratively with program, finance, and executive leadership teams.

• Strong understanding of nonprofit cost structures, restricted funding, and the financial implications of grant-funded programs.

• Good judgment in assessing funding opportunities through both a mission-driven and sustainability perspective.

• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
