Senior Director – Foundation Relations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and supervise the Foundation Relations team, managing workflow, providing writing and editing assistance, and coordinating with program colleagues to create funding opportunities.

• Mentor and develop team members to enhance ownership and broaden responsibilities over time.

• Delegate tasks effectively to build team capacity and improve execution throughout grant processes.

• Oversee grant management systems to guarantee that proposals and reports are accurate and submitted punctually.

• Collaborate with internal colleagues to ensure that reporting expectations, timelines, and funded activities are clearly communicated and attainable.

• Manage and expand a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects through cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal strategies.

• Propel significant donor engagement, including proposals, meetings, stewardship updates, and event participation.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to strategically engage them in donor relationships.

• Establish and maintain consistent moves management processes across the foundation portfolio.

• Identify and promote high-impact funding opportunities that align with SPN’s mission without generating unfunded scope or misaligned program commitments.

• Act as a senior leader contributing to development strategy, problem-solving, and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in foundation relations or institutional fundraising.

• Demonstrated success in securing and managing five-, six-, and ideally seven-figure gifts.

• At least 5 years of experience in team leadership and coaching.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.

• Outstanding writing, editing, and project management skills.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with program, finance, and executive leadership teams.

• A solid understanding of nonprofit cost structures, restricted funding, and the financial implications of grant-funded programs.

• Strong judgment in assessing funding opportunities through both a mission and sustainability perspective.

• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
