Senior Director, Compensation

Posted 1 day ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +8 more states.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Establish the compensation strategy and philosophy, outlining the positioning decisions and principles that guide our approach to exceptions and trade-offs communication.

β€’ Manage compensation committee materials and facilitate board-level discussions regarding program design and executive remuneration.

β€’ Direct the development and enhancement of our bonus and long-term incentive programs, aligning individual and organizational performance with comprehensible, motivating outcomes that reflect how the business generates value.

β€’ Treat equity as a strategic asset β€” create refresh frameworks linked to retention and performance, develop equity education for employees, and collaborate with Finance and Legal on program mechanics, dilution modeling, and board approvals.

β€’ Oversee job architecture and global pay infrastructure β€” encompassing job families, levels, career ladders, and pay structures across five regions β€” ensuring it remains relevant as AI transforms job families and skill requirements.

β€’ Guide merit, promotion, and equity refresh cycles as opportunities to embody our compensation philosophy, rather than mere operational tasks. Strive to improve each cycle progressively.

β€’ Act as the primary compensation partner to the CFO and CHRO β€” providing headcount cost modeling, budget scenario analysis, and a reporting infrastructure that ensures transparency and defensibility in compensation decisions.

β€’ Keep ahead of market trends through real-time data and professional relationships, tracking how AI, pay transparency laws, and workforce changes are reshaping the landscape before they impact offers or attrition.

β€’ Assume responsibility for pay transparency and compliance across all jurisdictions β€” including disclosure obligations, pay equity analysis, and audit readiness β€” viewing it as a leadership duty rather than a mere formality.

⛳️ Requirements

β€’ 10–15 years of experience in compensation, with significant time spent leading a function rather than providing support β€” you have directed programs, not just managed them.

β€’ Extensive knowledge in incentive plan design, with experience in creating or revamping bonus and equity programs within a complex organizational structure.

β€’ Proficient understanding of equity compensation β€” including RSU programs, refresh grant strategies, dilution mechanics, employee education, and financial modeling for board discussions.

β€’ Financial acumen at the CFO-partner level; capable of constructing a headcount cost model and guiding a finance leader through scenario analysis without needing interpretation.

β€’ Experience in global operations across various geographies, each with distinct labor laws, pay standards, and compliance requirements.

β€’ A builder mindset β€” you view programs as products, identify friction points, and resolve them to avoid future issues.

β€’ Strong executive presence; you articulate complex trade-offs clearly and gain trust by consistently being accurate and honest.

β€’ Background in SaaS or AI within a dynamic, global environment.

β€’ Proficiency in Workday as a power user or program administrator.

β€’ Familiarity with real-time benchmarking platforms (Pave, Compa, Ravio, or similar).

β€’ Previous experience in sales compensation or go-to-market incentive design.

🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Flexible work hours, recognition, and encouragement for independent work: Enjoy flexible time off along with numerous learning and development opportunities to advance your career. β€’ Support for Titans at every stage of life: Parental leave and support, up to $20k in fertility services (e.g., IUI and IVF), reimbursement for surrogacy and adoption, on-demand maternity support through Maven Maternity, free breast milk shipping through Maven Milk, along with pet insurance, legal advisory services, financial planning tools, and more.
